Fall Outdoor Activity Day
Date: Saturday, October 5, 2024
Time: 3:00-7:30PM
Time: 3:00-7:30PM
Location: Nagawaukee Park Pavilion & Campsite C
What It's About:
Our Fall Outdoor Activity Day is a wonderful family-friendly event where Scouts and their families can get together and spend some time in the beautiful outdoors!
This is a great event for families and Scouts new to Pack 47 can get to know the "veteran" families and Scouts. You'll get a taste of how Pack 47 operates. We have a lot of fun as a Pack and also split into Dens. The day includes some informational and educational opportunities for Scouts to learn about First Aid, nature, and burn off some energy with physical games and hikes.
Later in the day, we'll have a dinner hosted by the Pack, usually hot dogs, tacos, or other not-too-messy foods! Families are welcome to join us in the meal as well. We'll ask for parent volunteers to help with prepping, serving, and cleaning up after the meal.
In the evening, we build a bonfire, roast marshmallows for s'mores, and tell stories and jokes around the campfire. Bring your camping chair and a blanket to stay warm.
Come for the whole day or part of the day, or come and go as needed! It's a casual day that's a lot of fun!
Itinerary:
Please arrive at 3PM so we can begin at 3:30PM.
Scouts will break into two groups: we'll have one group start with dissecting owl pellets, and the other group will work on First Aid procedures.
Then we will split into Dens to work on skits for around the campfire, and then do Den-related activities.
Dinner will be served 5:30-6:30PM.
We'll have campfire time (and s'mores!) after 6:30 and have a flag retirement ceremony, present our Den Skits, and tell jokes.
We will need some extra hands to help with preparing, serving and cleaning up dinner, as well as facility clean up at the end of the event.
Items to bring:
What to bring for EACH family member:
- Camp chair
- Reusable water bottle, coffee/hot chocolate tumbler, (please label with names)
- Blankets/sweatshirt, jacket for around the fire
- Flashlight and/or headlamp
We will provide all food and a snack mid-day.
This type of event requires effort from all of our parents. We will never, ever turn down an offer of help. Many hands make light work!
