Location: Lisbon Community Park
What It's About:
This is a community event, but the Scouts will represent the majority of racers. All family members can create a sled and participate.
The Rules:
Only cardboard, tape, and rope can be used to build your sled (No hardware is allowed – wood, plastic, metal, etc.).
Disqualification will occur if any evidence of “illegal materials” is found – NO EXCEPTIONS.
Crayon or soap is allowed to wax the bottom of the sled.
Painting, flags, and decorations are permitted and encouraged.
A no-step push off start by non-rider is permitted.
Only 1 passenger per sled.
Each sled will be timed at a predetermined distance on the sled hill. The sled and passenger must cross the finish line to stop the clock.
A bike helmet is mandatory for the participant riding in the sled.
Any sled that could be considered potentially unsafe for participants and/or spectators will be disqualified prior to the start of the race.
Adults may serve as project managers, and may cut cardboard, but should be relatively hands off during the construction and decorating.
The dimensions of the sled should not exceed 5 feet in length, 3 feet in width, and 3 feet in height.
